Today, Square-Enix has announced that Space Invaders Extreme 2, the sequel to their wildly successful re-imagining of the Space Invaders franchise, will be hitting the Nintendo DS next week, on October 20th. While the year is busy as hell, the handheld scene isn't as crazy-insane, so you should have time on the go to play a little, if you're interested.

The sequel will feature an assortment of modes, with a slew of singleplayer and multiplayer offerings, including online play over Nintendo Wi-Fi connect. New music and graphics will give the game a colorful, original look, which should help sweeten the deal and make the game a must buy for fans. We're incredibly excited for this, considering how much fun the first was, and should be posting a review for the game in the coming weeks. Still on the fence about it?
