Split Second Trailer Goes Downtown
Fight for First
by Coop
At this year's PAX East, I played a lot of Split Second. A lot of it. I mean, I skipped out on doing other stuff to play it. Why? Because it's freaking awesome. Every time I see it at a convention I feel weak in the knees, like falling in love for the first time. I know, as soon as I see it, that it's going to own me. Completely. I'm going to play it over and over again until I am forced to leave. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, I recomend you watch the video above. I'll wait here, don't mind me, I just like to watch.
So, what about now? More excited? Thought so. That footage? That's all in game. I know that, because it's the level I played last week. It's all awesome. At one point, a helicopter dragged a dump truck through the street, carving a path in the ground. It's full of explosions and awesome. Being able to drive around, trigger events, and destroy opponents makes it the best thing ever. Literally, ever. The game is due out in May, and we'll have a review up around the time of release. If you're still on the fence, for whatever reason, that should sell you on it. If not, well, then you're without hope, friend, and you should think about retiring from video games. Sorry. Call 'em like I see 'em.

Holy shit that looks awesome.
"TOO FAST?!" IN A COMICALLY OVER THE TOP ACTION RACER?! FUCK YOU!
This game would be be great if the publisher could somehow figure out how to de-invent the entire Burnout series while simultaneously sabotaging the release of Blur; which, you know, has licensed real world vehicles and is only being developed by one of the most reputable names in the history of racing games.
PS - This game is for lovers of Michael Bay's Transformers and watchers of CSI: Miami.
I'M LOOKING AT YOU SEAN!!!!
Don't look at me. It'll burn your eyes out.
Touché.
