Square Enix Trademarks Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Humans! They're Revolting!
by Coop

Square Enix appears to be wasting no time taking advantage of their ownership of Eidos. Today, the publisher has filed trademarks for Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and Deus Ex Human Revolution) in both Europe and the US. This marks the first "official" thing we've heard about the game in a long time, and even if it isn't Square Enix saying the game is in development right now... it sort of is. Sadly, so far, that's all we know about the game. Odds are a development studio made up of Eidos employees is working on it, and Square will lend their support whenever possible.
Seeing as the series has made its name blending together FPS and RPG, this could mean great things for the series. Or, you know, it could mean bad things. Sort of bad things. Square Enix's record for action games isn't really all that impressive, with the latest example being the Crystal Bearers. Then again, they might just do the cutscenes and call it a day. That would be a good thing. Hopefully their influence in this case is for the better, something we'll need to wait to find out. Unless you work for Eidos, that is. You might know already if that's the case. Post a comment below if you know, or blatantly lie and pretend you know. We'll never know.

in a related story, a new poll has opened up asking the general populous if they know how to pronounce Deus Ex.
What, nobody took Latin in school?
"Day-oos"
Also, inb4 "Deus Deus Revolution: Human Mix" photoshops.
I wasn't wild about Deus Ex, but I recognize how it pushed the FPS genre forward. I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do with current-gen technology.
I predict JC will be be re-imagined as a brash and standoffish 18 year old loner, have a love interest forced on him, and wear way more belts and zippers.
I remember once I told someone I was playing Deus Ex, and they thought I said "Gay Sex".
