Star Wars: The Old Republic Confirmed
BioWare Austin Working on KotOR MMORPG

The wait is over indeed. BioWare has confirmed at a press conference in San Francisco that they are currently working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, a Massive Multiplayer Online RPG based on their popular Knights of the Old Republic series. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t allowed to flip out at the news, crying tears of delicious, salty joy.
It will be a "story driven" MMO, with actual plotlines depending on your class. There are two sides: Sith and Galactic Republic, and each has subclasses to choose from. Just like the characters in the films, each had their own path but came together for adventures. It looks like BioWare is serious about story in this game.
Your companions in battle will influence you, and visa versa, but there aren't any details on what that means. The graphics are said to be very vibrant and wonderful, a nice departure from the dark and dreary world of MMOs currently. They do plan on making it run on a wide range of machines, though, but are only talking about PCs for now.
There is a trailer that has yet to hit the net, but it doesn't show any gameplay. The title's tagline is "The Saga Begins Online," which is a nice slap in the face to that disaster Star Wars: Galaxies. Stay tuned for more information as I drool uncontrollably all over my keyboard. Literally, it’s like typing in a fish tank at this point.

Yuck. KoTOR is great as it is, but they have to make an MMO out of it? Why!?
Story-driven? How? Why does the story change depending on your class? You know what I call that? A single-player game. Like KoTOR. Which is awesome.
The only redeeming quality is that it is made by Bioware, which, if I'm not mistaken, has no experience in the realm of MMOs. If they somehow pull this off properly and I'm impressed, I'll eat my socks.

meh... while it's cool that there's going to be another (hopefully good) Star Wars MMO, I guess I'm with the rest of the dead guys in not being blown away by this.
As cool as this has the potential to be. It's just another venue for me to lust after force powers and lightsabers.
Make me a jedi in real life, George Lucas, and together we will rule the galaxy!!!
Star Wars Galaxies was in no ways a disaster, that was an enjoyable MMO, and you know it Coop!
