Starcraft II Beta Likely Starting Soon, Lasting Several Months
2009 Ship Date is Likely Boned
by Coop

During Kotaku's time at Blizzard Headquarters (lucky jerks), Dustin Browder, lead designer on StarCraft II at Blizzard, revealed a bit more on Starcraft II's beta and release date. While they're still obviously not ready to commit to a release date (see: Blizzard), Dustin said that the StarCraft II beta is planned to last from four to six months.
Four to six months, though, means the 2009 release date is slowly slipping away. In fact, if they don't launch it very soon it means that the 2009 release is actually going to be impossible. When this was pointed out, Dustin laughed, saying they could still hit four months. This is good news for anyone looking for a polished experience, but bad news for anyone who was anticipating playing StarCraft II anytime soon.
We'll keep you posted. So, does anyone really think this game might make a 2009 release, or is that sort of out the window at this point?

Meh, I think if they get this started by midsummer they could still be on for a super late 2009 release. However, they will most likely find an asston of bugs throughout the beta, thus pushing it back.
So I guess what I meant to say was no. No it won't be here in '09.
Yeah, anybody who expected them to make that 2009 street date was delusional.
