This weekend only, Tomb Raider: Underworld, which is said to represent "a new advancement in exploration-based gameplay," (whatever that means, exactly) is available for 75% off on Steam, down from its regular $29.99 to a much nicer $7.49.

Odds are this was the last "traditional" Tomb Raider we'll see for some time. Hell, if the early rumors are true, the next game will have Lady Croft fighting demons on horseback instead of... whatever if it she did in this game. Swimming, I guess, I remember there was supposed to be swimming. Either way, Uncharted beat Croft at her own game so badly that I wouldn't be shocked to see the next title come with a rock climbing peripheral. Get it?

Underworld was supposed to be a pretty good game, and with the economy as rough as it is there's no reason not to pick it up this weekend if you have any urge to play it. I mean, it's like eight bucks - that's only three hours pay in this day and age. It's worth it, if not just to see how much Eidos made them jiggle this time around. My guess? Not enough.
