Suda51 Promises Open World Changes for No More Heroes 2

Hopefully Less Lawn Mowing

Goichi "Suda51" Suda might be one of the wackiest minds in gaming, lending his strange, crazy brain to the development of one of the best Wii games of 2008, No More Heroes. A sequel is in the works, and Grasshopper Manufacture hopes to perfect the brilliant ideas of the first, starting with the original's underused and poorly implemented open-world environment. GameSetWatch had an interview with Suda, where he promises "big changes for No More Heroes 2's open world."

What big changes could they be? There are plenty of opportunities to better tie the world into the actual game, since the original's worked more like a mission hub than an actual world. No More Heroes made its mark on the industry by being a parody of adventure games that was more entertaining than most of the games it mocked, so trying to extend its satire to the abundance of large, unnecessarily open environments doesn’t seem out of reach for Suda's sequel. Populating it with enemies instead of coconut trees would be a simple fix, and giving players more excuses to wander around would definitely make the sections between levels more interesting.

Sadly, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle isn't due out until 2010, but hopefully this gives the developers plenty of time to deliver the most polished, silly game they possibly can. Hopefully the questions asked in the original's zany ending are answered, but in all likelihood I doubt that will be the case.

OR WILL IT?!
