It is to no ones surprise that I have put more thought into the character select screen of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl then I have on many more important things in my life. That said I have a large amount of predictions and speculations about what will and what will not make it into the new Brawl when it reaches our shores in February. On Monday and Friday every week from now until, well, until I run out of ideas, I will give one prediction.

 

 

 

November 12, 2007 – Miis

Nintendo has become more self referencing over the years, and loves to expand its ideas from one game to the next. It is obvious they want the Mii to be synonymous with the Wii as seen in other Wii titles where they appear in the game or are used to mark saved games. I believe that players will be able to play as their favorite Mii in Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. 

Now this isn't the same as saying that there will be a character maker - that is entirely different. I believe there will be a character that allows you to use a pre-set move template on the Mii of your choice. All of the moves will be references to Wii Sports or Wii Play, with attacks being punches with boxing gloves, hitting with tennis rackets, or ranged attacks with golf balls. The Mii will also get a slight graphical upgrade as seen in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves.

The Mii's Final Smash will also be a sight to behold. Just like in the Mii Channel there will be a rampaging parade of all of the Mii's on your system (or pre-made ones if you don't have any) that will trample enemies on the screen. This will not only damage enemies but allow the Mii to blend in with his surroundings and move around without being seen.

 

There is my official prediction: Miis will be playable characters in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
