Super Smash Brothers Prediction: Volume Nine
Captain Olimar Joins the Fight!
by Coop
It is to no ones surprise that I have put more thought into the character select screen of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl then I have on many more important things in my life. That said I have a large amount of predictions and speculations about what will and what will not make it into the new Brawl when it reaches our shores in February. On Monday and Friday every week from now until, well, until I run out of ideas, I will give one prediction.

November 26, 2007 – CAPTAIN OLIMAR
Captain Olimar has been a suggested character for Smash Brothers ever since Pikmin first came out on the Gamecube. He missed the boat to Melee (appearing only as a trophy) but there is a good chance he will be seen in Brawl as Nintendo gears up to make the inevitable announcement of a Wii iteration of Pikmin. Sure, Olimar is small and his Pikmin even smaller, but continuity has never stopped Nintendo!
There are two ways he could be put into the game. One option is that of a standard fighter with regular attacks being head-butts from his glass encased skull. Just like in Pikmin his physical attacks would not be too strong, as Olimar’s true power lies in the Pikmin that follow him around.
“B” attacks can be throwing Pikmin at enemies, each with different abilities. Down-B could have a red Pikmin pull out a bomb to throw, forward could throw a blue one to drench and slow an enemy, and up could launch Olimar into the air with the help of yellow Pikmin. He could also play like the Pokémon Trainer, sitting in the background and using his Pikmin to fight for him entirely.
His Smash Attack would call forward an army of Pikmin to swarm the other players. All colors would attack and carry enemies off in suicidal fashion, being the true zealots they are. A Pikmin level would also be a nice addition, having a day/night cycle that would pull characters from the Pikmin universe to wander the stage when the sun goes down.

There is my official prediction: Captain Olimar will be a playable character in Super Smash Brothers: Brawl.

But... well... who cares? I mean, he's not a very good character.
Hmm...nah, if anything, I see him more as an Assist Trophy.
I agree with Phoenix... 120%
maybe princess Peace can pull him out of the ground once in awhile.
I win! Pwnd!
