Super Smash Brothers Prediction: Volume Ten
Not All Will Return to the Brawl
by Coop

November 26, 2007 –MR GAME AND WATCH AND CAPTAIN FALCON DON'T RETURN
Not every character in Super Smash Brothers Melee has to come back to Brawl, and not all of them will. Some seemed like good ideas when they were first put into the game but didn’t gain the popularity that would be necessary for them to still be playable. Two such characters likely to be on the digital chopping block are Captain Falcon and Mr. Game and Watch.
Nintendo has embraced neither character in recent years. We haven’t seen a new F-Zero in development after the Gamecube one sold poorly and Nintendo could have done something with Game and Watch on the DS by now if they wanted to. It really is a shame, but it looks like other characters with similar backgrounds are replacing them.
Captain Falcon will have his moves ripped from him and given to Gannondorf – the character most people preferred from Melee. He isn’t popular enough to take the fame away from Lord Gannon, and hopefully the loss of Falcon will ensure that Link’s nemesis makes the cut.
Mr. Game and Watch’s moves were all random and silly based on his handheld titles. Now Wario is into the mix, bringing a Warioware feel to the game. Many of his attacks are goofy and can bring the needed mayhem to the game that Watch’s absence would cause. Both characters may still be in the game as Assist Trophies, but being playable isn’t likely.

There is my official prediction: Captain Falcon and Mr. Game and Watch will NOT be playable characters in Super Smash Brothers: Brawl.
