When a Problem Comes Along...

It is to no ones surprise that I have put more thought into the character select screen of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl then I have on many more important things in my life. That said I have a large amount of predictions and speculations about what will and what will not make it into the new Brawl when it reaches our shores in February. On Monday and Friday every week from now until, well, until I run out of ideas, I will give one prediction.

December 14, 2007 – WALUIGI

Waluigi must feel out of place at all of the Mario Parties. He seems to be the kind of guy who no one invites, but always shows up anyway. Lucky for him he seems to finally be working his way into the hearts of some gamers and it doesn’t look like he is leaving anytime soon. The Mario Strikers series has shown the greatest evolution of the character into a flat out jerk, doing rude crotch chops after goals and sticking his tongue out in crude fashion. I think he would be great in Super Smash Brothers: Brawl, we need a dirty fighter.

Since there is barely any plot to Waluigi we need to work off guesstimation here. He seems to have powers that dip into the dark arts based on his abilities in the Mario Sports and Party titles. Most of his attacks are usually coated in a dark, purple smoke, and I think some of his moves could be spun off of Mewtwo’s from the last Super Smash Brothers. His melee attack could employ the whip seen in Mario Strikers Charged and he could have some sort of low blow attack, throwing sand in his enemy’s eyes to stun them or something to that effect.

His Final Smash could be anything, really. His whip could glow purple and do massive damage or he could rain pinballs down on the screen. There is so little information on Waluigi that anything is possible. For all we know he could split into hundreds of little Waluigis and throw coins at the enemies - this is Nintendo, after all.
