It is to no ones surprise that I have put more thought into the character select screen of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl then I have on many more important things in my life. That said I have a large amount of predictions and speculations about what will and what will not make it into the new Brawl when it reaches our shores in February. On Monday and Friday every week from now until, well, until I run out of ideas, I will give one prediction. This week there will be one on Thursday instead because of Gamervision attending the VGXPO on Friday.

November 2, 2007 - RAYMAN

Two is such an awkward number of third party characters to be featured in a game. I think that there is a really good chance that Rayman from Rabbid fame will see himself joining in with Sonic and Snake in the game when we see it hit in February.

Nintendo has had a fantastic relationship with Ubisoft since the Wii first started selling. Early on they threw in their supportive hat with Raymans Raving Rabbids which also ended up on the 360 and PS2. These versions didn't do the game justice and ended up selling justifiably crappily. The sequel will see itself, as of now, on the Wii and DS exclusively.

He really is a natural fit in the game. He has an impressive character model that would fit perfectly in the game without breaking any of the mood. He also has a handful of moves from previous Rayman titles that will fit in quite well. Different costumes could be some of the alternatives in Raving Rabbids such as the disco suit, old woman outfit, and goth gear.

His Final Smash would, hopefully, include the aid of the rabbids. In fact I wouldn't be all to surprised to see a Rabbid assist trophy in the game that would have them screaming and causing all sorts of panic on the stage.

There is my official prediction: Rayman will be a playable character in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
