Survey Shows Parents Hate Gays, Love Decapitations

Also Dislike Sex, Yet Don't Mind %*&$ing?

by Coop

The ESRB might need to take another look at its rating system. Whattheyplay.com has conducted a poll that says that parents would rather a decapitation be in a video game then, well, just about anything else.  As seen above, "A man and woman having sex" is the most offensive thing that parents would hate to find in a game, right above "Two men kissing."

This is shocking, to say the least. I find it hard to believe a parent should be more upset of the repercussions of walking in on their child seeing two dudes locking lips then they should be about watching their son sever heads. The hatred for sex in games shouldn't be as shocking to me as it is, yet it still confuses me and shows how out of touch I am with the common parent. Then again, I am not sure how I would answer the poll, seeing as I don't have a problem with any of these in context.

Then again, maybe that is the problem: context. With the age of gamers growing to the point where, in the next few years, gamers and parents will be one and the same, I think these numbers will be very different. As of now I don’t think every parent is thinking of context or involving themselves in their child’s video game playing lives. I know I want to be there to show my son/daughter what Kratos is doing to those wenches, or why Nico is losing money when ever a lady gets into a car.

I think this is simply because companies are concentrating more on realistic gore graphics than any kind of erotic cgi.

Once sex in video games becomes more titillating instead of pixilating, I think a lot more people are gonna get on board.

That shit's huge in Japan, right?
