I've made it very clear: I really, really enjoy Telltale's Tales of Monkey Island series. For as much as I enjoyed Strong Bad and tolerated Wallace & Gromit, I honestly think ToMI is their best since Sam & Max, and that's saying a lot. The last episode, entitled Rise of the Pirate God, is due out in a few short days, a bittersweet moment to be sure. A few minutes ago, an email arrived in my in-box with two things: an early copy of the last episode, and the trailer above which does, by the way, include some spoilers. No more than the average movie trailer, especially since everything is out of context, but be warned either way.

The video is really terrific. Telltale might not be able to cut something together that looks like a hollywood movie, but they've done an admirable job capturing the joy and whimsy of the first season with this video, and it should push anyone on the fence over the edge. The characters, the story, the gameplay... everything has been absolutely stellar thus far, and I'm hoping it ends well, or else I'll need to pick up a pitchfork and head to Telltale's offices to ask them nicely to do it better. Odds are I won't need to.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a Pirate God to raise.
