Team Fortress 2 Update Bigger Then Expected

New Guns and Game Modes

by Coop

Valve has teased a large update for Team Fortress 2 for about two months now. Early on, they mentioned that it would be a large update that would change the way people would play the game. Gamers, being used to sensationalist press releases and interviews, scoffed at the idea and thought that the leaked “New Medic Achievements” were meant to be the change in question.

How dare we underestimate Valve?

It seems the update will be far more then anyone could have imagined. Apparently, the achievements are a part of a larger picture, allowing players to unlock new weapon sets that work not as upgrades, but entirely new ways to play the character. Take the Medic, who’s healing beam can bump players to temporarily have +50% more health and can eventually make them invulnerable for a limited time period. One of their new weapons is a gun that gives a permanent 100% boost to health, while possibly removing the ubercharge completely.

This is just a taste of what is in store. Valve also plans on adding two weapon sets for each class and a new game type that has the blue team attempting to move a mining cart across the level. Two new maps will accompany this patch – which as of now is PC only – and will be released next month. Once it hits we will be sure to supply full coverage of what is sure to drag me back to my PC for at least a solid month.
