Ten Capcom Characters We'd Like to See in Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Who Will Make the Cut?

by Coop

With the official announcement of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 today, the floodgates have officially been opened on speculation about the game's roster of fighters.  Capcom hasn't given an exact number, but they've promised to "blow our minds" with the final count.  Until that count has been announced, and the full roster revealed, we and damn near everyone else on the internet is going to make guesses as to who will, should, and shouldn't make the cut.  Without further ado, below are our picks for ten Capcom characters we'd like to see in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. If you're more interested on the comic book side of things, our picks for ten Marvel characters can be found here.

10. Viewtiful Joe

Viewtiful Joe wasn't around when Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was released, but he did find his way into the more recent Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. In the recent fighter, he was a fan favorite, and his style of combat. His character has a good look, and would fit well in the Marvel vs. Capcom universe. The series is known for having a great contrast in the size and looks of characters, making him a perfect choice. Henshin-a-go-go, baby!

9. Strider

Strider is a ninja from the future who kills Russians. If that isn't enough, I don't know what to tell you. His acrobatic movements made him a great pick in the last game, leading to his character finding fans in those who wanted to find ways to combat button-mashers. Fans haven't seen a Strider game in years, so the chances he'll make it in aren't extremely high, but we'd love it if he popped up here.

8. Phoenix Wright

This might be the longest shot in the bunch. Phoenix Wright isn't known for his combat, more his diplomacy, but that shouldn't exclude him from exchanging blows with The Incredible Hulk. Just imagining Phoenix yelling, "OBJECTION!" and poking an enemy in the eye. That's right, now you want him in, too.

7. Mega Man

The Blue Bomber is one of Capcom's biggest franchises, and it's a shocker that he wasn't among the first confirmed for the game. While we don't need to petition too hard for him to make it, since there's little chance he won't make the cut, we feel like he's worth mentioning. Maybe Rush can run around with him, just to make things more complicated and interesting.

6. William Augustus Grey

Just because Dark Void didn't grab everyone's attention doesn't mean the protagonist wouldn't be a fun fighter in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The inclusion of a jet-pack, alone, would make him unique, and his combat style could be more varied than a lot of others. He has skills on the ground, in the air, and would be able to seamlessly jump between them, making him a great choice for the fighting series.

5. Wesker

Chris Redfield is already confirmed, leaving plenty of room for a Resident Evil antagonist to join the cast. It wouldn't make sense to just throw in a zombie or chainsaw-wielding foe, especially when Albert Wesker would be ten times better. Wesker's an iconic villain, and turned out to be one of the most important characters in the series by the end of Resident Evil 5. Not only that, but he's a god damn bad-ass, with all sorts of super sweet ninja moves. Plus, he could throw his glasses at foes, which would be a fantastic move. Seriously, put him in.

4. Blanka

Putting Blanka in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is like giving Scorsese the Oscar for The Departed. He should have been in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but wasn't. He should have been in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, but wasn't. This would be a great chance to make up for it. On top of that, Capcom needs someone with some muscles to combat Hulk, and the green-skinned Blanka fits that bill.

3. Haggar

The only politician on the list, Haggar is a former professional wrestler turned mayor of Metro City, In Final Fight, he ripped apart enemies with his huge, bear-like arms. While still being mayor. That's awesome. With the recent release of Final Fight: Double Impact, the giant is back on the scene, and there's no reason for Capcom not to put him in with their other iconic characters.

2. Sir Arthur

Just because there hasn't been a new Ghosts 'n Goblins game doesn't mean Capcom couldn't put the series' lead in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. They own the rights, and he'd be a cool fighter, considering the lack of armored heroes on either side of the roster list. Plus, when he gets hit, he can pop out of the armor and drop to the ground wearing nothing but heart-covered boxers. You know, for nostalgia's sake.

1. Lord Raptor

Lord Raptor is a rock star zombie from the Darkstalkers series. A rock star, who is undead, and thus is also a zombie. Undead. Rocker. Walking corpse. Diva. Yet, for whatever reason, his name is "Lord Raptor," which doesn't explain any of the elements of his personality. He's just silly, and, yeah, he had better be in there.

I'd love to see Vanessa Schneider (from P.N.03) but I think that's Sheeva silouetted in the larger cast pic.
