TGS 08: PSP Gets Sixaxis Support
Because Thats What Handhelds Are For
by Coop
Sony has made a puzzling announcement at the Tokyo Game show today. The PSP will be able to connect with the PS3 in an interesting way, allowing users to use the dual analog sticks and rumble features of the PlayStation 3 controller with PSP Games. It's called PSP Plus, and as of now it is Resistance: Retribution only.
I'm all for playing handhelds at home, I'm not one of those "I need an excuse to play it" people. However, needing to connect them together and use a controller seems more than a little silly. This means that they are fully aware of the handhelds inadequacies when it comes to controls, but this solution doesn't sit well. They just announced a new PSP for crying out loud, just throw on a second thumbstick!
Resistance: Retribution is, as of now, the only game to support PSP Plus, and I can't help but think that anyone who cares that much about the series would just play Resistance 2 instead. I mean, it's cool, no doubt, but...really? Tethering the PSP to the PS3 to use the PS3 controller? I'm perplexed. Think we will ever see PSP games that DEMAND the Sixaxis?

You Go, Coop!
I guess that's one way of dealing with shoddy controls on the PSP.
So...what, do you have to prop up the PSP somewhere? Or do you play it on the TV Screen?
