The Old Republic Video Documentary Tells a Story

I Have a Good Feeling About This

by Coop

BioWare has released a second Video Documentary for their upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic. It shows some new game footage, and also gives a look into the title's story, which sounds like a great starting point for an MMORPG. Star Wars Galaxies had the issue of trying to begin the game's story in the middle of the trilogy, which, as expected, ended horribly.

It might just have been me, but something about not being able to really effect anything during a Galactic Civil War seemed a bit odd.

Hopefully BioWare and Lucasarts don't repeat the same mistakes, and make the Star Wars universe as full of wonder and majesty as it can be. Honestly, if anyone can, odds are it's BioWare. They haven't had a misstep yet, and, not to jinx it or anything, I have a good feeling about this. Here's the video.

I don't know. It just seems like everyone is still trying to jump onto the mmo band wagon. Even after all the failures that take place, every company has to try and see what they can do with it. The problem with MMOs as I see it, is that you have to try and make all those thousands of subscribers happy all the time so that they'll still be paying their 15$ a month. That would be fine except for the fact that most people that play are just whiney little brats that want an easy ride to the top. I would love to see an MMO like Ultima, where you could die so easily and lose it all, where you actually had to have some skill to play. Then again, City did really well with an easy formula because it required good team work to go through and had a lot of imagination to it. So I guess speculation can't do much until an MMO is released and sets its own place in the genre. It definatly shouldn't try and be a WoW clone though, that's just silly. I figure it's going to take something new and fresh to pull those players away. As long as I can play the role of a Sith I'll be happy. Little off topic, but when I was a kid I always wanted to be a Jedi, but as I got older the Sith just seemed so much more appealing. Jedi's can't fall in love and just seem weak in general. They are slaves to their emotion, scared of letting it get out of hand, instead of taking control of them.

If you could judge a game by its concept art, then this has all the potential in the world to be awesome.
