The Peggle Conspiracy

It Was Almost the Perfect Crime...

by Coop

You may remember last week when I gleefully posted that with a simple purchase of the Orange Box one would be permitted to lay their eyes, hands, and minds into the wonderful experience of Team Fortress 2 starting on Monday. Today is that Monday and there is no sign of TFC2 at 11:19PM. While Valve still has time to make true on their promise (they are located on the west coast so they have about three hours) they have left thousands of fans who took off work, school, and life to play TF2 early twisting in the wind. The official word was “late in the day on Monday” and that time has long past. Now the interpretations of “day” are being thrown around as if it was the word “alone” or “sex” in a White House scandal. Is it now night? Did they mean day as in Monday? But why would Valve tug around its fans? Is the game not done? That doesn't make any sense. This is 'beta' after all. Did their servers get hacked? No, they would have said something. Are they waiting for a fix for some server issue? Possible, but it is likely something else entirely... Peggle. Purchasing the Orange Box came with a free game: Peggle: Extreme. Contained are 10 levels of an amazing and addictive puzzle game. It is my personal belief that the reason the beta is not yet out is because Valve wants everyone to buy the full game with many more levels and characters once they have tasted sweet, sweet Peggle bliss. It is a scam and a shame that so many people have been pulled into Peggle’s loving embrace while waiting for TF2. What better way? Puzzle games are known for being addictive and made to kill time. Valve has created the perfect storm of time needing to be wasted and filled the void (and their pockets) in what would have been the perfect plot... If I hadn’t figured it all out. Now, back to Peggle.
