The Sims 3 Delayed Until June

UPDATED: New Screens, Box Art, Collector's Edition Info

by Coop

EA's Sims 3 has been pushed back a bit from its original February 21nd release. The people-simulator is now scheduled to come out on June 2nd, nearly four months after the previous date.

“The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3,” said Russell Arons, Vice President of Marketing for EA. “The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness with both loyal Sims fans and new players.”

I suppose that it makes sense. The PR machine at EA usually kicks in by now and begins hyping their products, especially ones with "Sim" in the name. If it were coming out on the 21st there would have been a Superbowl commercial, skywriting, and Sim-coverage of the inauguration. Hopefully they are able to hit that date, because every minute I spend without a floating, green crystal is a moment I'd like to forget.

Speaking of which, some information about the box art and collector's edition were released (click here for an image). It will come with a 2GB The Sims Plumbob USB drive, adorned with a green crystal, as well as some in-game content. There are also some new images, featured below. Be sure to check back with Gamervision over the next few weeks for some exclusive Sims 3 coverage from the New York City Comicon and beyond.

That's fine. I know a few people that REALLY, REALLY, WANT this game. It's to time consuming for me.

I don't know, Mikey, but if past releases are any indication, Mac owners can expect it a few months later.

I will have Killzone 2, Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 5, and Halo Wars to keep me entertained until June for Sims day.

The character models look awesome. And yes, I'll take a Plumbob drive too.
