Tournament of Legends to Lack Wii MotionPlus and Online Support
Waggle it is

A few days ago, we had a chance to sit down with High Voltage Art Director Matt Corso, where we talked about Tournament of Legends, the Wii-exclusive fighter that replaced Gladiator A.D. on the May release calendar. When we first talked about the game back at E3, the developers seemed ready to support the Wii MotionPlus, and explained how it would help the melee fighter add variance to attacks to break up "could possibly be seen as mechanical attacks." Now, a few months later, they've rescinded those words, and removed support for the Wiimote attachment.
The reasoning, they said, was due to the game using both the Wiimote and Nunchuk. When trying combat out with the attachment, Matt commented that it ended up feeling unnatural to have 1:1 control in one hand, and less precise motion controls in the other. If this is true, it means bad things for games that will attempt the same in the future. Still, it seems strange that it would be taken away, and even the option would be appreciated. The other omission, which will likely feel even stranger to fans of the developer, is the lack of online multiplayer. While the developer hadn't actually confirmed it would be in the game in the past, it was assumed with all of the work they did on The Conduit that it would be implemented into their fighting game. During the interview, Corso confirmed that it was not the case, and that they wanted to focus on offline multiplayer. Maybe the "other versions" will support it.
Check back soon for the full interview with Matt Corso and a hands-on preview of this rebranded Wii exclusive.
