Ubisoft Delays Two, Announces One

Haze and Conviction Fade Out as Rainbow Six Fades In

by Coop

See you next year, bro.

In its Quarterly report Ubisoft has announced a mash up of some of its biggest soon-to-be-released titles. Free Radical’s pride and joy for 2007, Haze, has made the slip into 2008. The title, which was originally planned to be the big shooter on the PS3 for this year, has now been added to the laundry list of games being delayed for all systems.

The good news in this story is it gives them more time to polish the game. PS3 owners have their hands full with Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Rock Band, and Assassin’s Creed – a slip to next year isn’t really the worst thing in the world for those gamers.

Also slipping into the distance is Splinter Cell: Conviction. Supposed to be released either this year or early next, it has now found its home in 2008/2009.

No reasons were given for any of the delays, but with all of the big blockbusters this year maybe they decided to hold out and make the best game possible. Hopefully the success of Assassin’s Creed will bump Conviction to its amazing engine. That would be a sight to behold.

A clearing in the storm is that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has been confirmed to be in development. Little information about this was given, but if Ubisoft’s current trend is to be followed it should blow our socks apart whilst still on our warm feet.

What do you know? Ah PS3... you're nothing if not consistent...

Consistently ripping off your audience, that is.

Honestly, how many PS3 owners were super hyped for Haze anyway?

I was actually kind of hyped for it. It looks interesting and I was annoyed it wasn't going to be on PC or 360 (PC would be preferred for it, in my opinion) this year.
