During Sony’s E3 Press Conference they dropped a bombshell: Unreal Tournament III would be available exclusively on the Playstation 3 in 2007. This was misleading, seeing as the PC release was still incoming. Also, it seemed like it would also have been a lie, as Epic was forced to delay the game into 2008.

Well, it seems despite whatever problems they had they were able to finish it but just a bit too late. UTIII will still release in the USA on December 10, 2007. Whatever superhuman feat the folks over at Epic were able to pull off worked for them, but because of its late finish it will be in “limited quantities.” Without more information we don’t know if this means it will be one per store or one per state, but hopefully they are able to meet the huge demand.

This could be a good way to ease the market into the idea of PS3 games not getting completely shafted. If we go from games being delayed into eternity to coming out on time the industry may collapse. We need to move slowly in baby steps. Soon the frame rate and release issues will be a thing of the past, maybe…maybe…
