Upcoming Guitar Hero to Feature Opening Acts
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Friends!
by Coop

A few weeks ago, Activision announced that the next installment of the Guitar Hero franchise would be Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It had been rumored for some time that band-specific editions of the series would be coming, so it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when it was revealed that Aerosmith would get their own game. In the Gamervision office we tried to figure out how many good songs Aerosmith had, and thought that there was either some addition to the game that was yet to be announced or the title would have a severe lack of tracks.
It looks like the former is the reality, as this Gamestop advertisement for the title reveals that the game will feature “Aerosmith’s Favorite Bands.” I snapped a picture a week ago and forgot about it, but while reading an article on Aerosmith’s fan site, AeroForceOne, I noticed they teased the “feature” that has been kept somewhat hidden from the public eye.
“Beyond Aerosmith, some opening acts will appear in the game, as well as some special guests — think Run-D.M.C.”
This makes sense to me. Aerosmith is a cool band and all, but I don’t think they have the catalog to fill up an entire game with good music. If it will be bands that they have coupled with (like Run-D.M.C.) then it still could be any of a few hundred bands. As Steven Tyler has coupled with nearly every artist in the past twenty years including Brittney Spears, the game should feature a very wide array of music when it comes out later this year.
