Rare made a big announcement at this years Comic-Con, they will be bringing the much loved
Viva Pinata to the Nintendo DS. Rare promised that the gameplay will be the same, but with an overhead view.
We think this partnership is a little bit more involved then just a
Viva Pinata port.
When Rare was put on the selling block by Nintendo many people thought it would be the end of all communications between the companies. Many Rare employees jumped ship (and formed Free Radical) and the company was fated to forever create games for Microsoft.
However, the enemy of your enemy is your friend, and I imagine nothing gets a Microsoft executive more excited than looking at all of the money being dumped into the PSP. Every nail that can be smashed into its coffin is to benefit MS, and if they can be the ones slamming it so the better.
But what does it mean? Will the Nintendo-Microsoft deal extend further? Will we see
Perfect Dark or
Goldeneye on the Wii Virtual Console or the DS? No one can know for sure but this is a step in that direction.
