Zombie Driver is Like Left 4 Deathrace

A Survival Horror... For Your Car!

by Coop

Indie game developer EXOR Studios has announced their first title today, and they really, really hope you're not tired of the over saturation of zombie games that have been hitting the market. Their title, Zombie Driver, is a top-down driving game with a twist: it takes place in a city infested with several varieties of bloodthirsty zombies. It's open-world, too, so there's plenty of undead to find and kill. Well, re-kill, I suppose, since, you know, already dead and all. The game's six different cars can be mounted with different upgrades and weapons, which the developers say can "transform even an innocent Taxi into a Chariot of Death." It doesn't look like there's multiplayer, but this is just the announcement, there's plenty of time to drop that bomb and create something really, really cool.

The press release and a few more images are below, and we've contacted the developer to see if we can't get more information on the title. Namely, when it's going to be out on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

UPDATE: They responded, and while they can't confirm anything, they said they "are actively moving towards releasing the game on the console platforms after the PC release."

ZOMBIE DRIVERTM - TURN ON THE WIPERS AND HIT THE GAS!
EXOR StudiosTM announcing the Zombie DriverTM game for the PC

SZCZECIN, POLAND - OCTOBER 2, 2009 - EXOR Studios, an independent game development company is proud to announce its first commercial PC title - Zombie Driver™ - an action driving game with a top down perspective and a dynamic helicopter chase camera. Fight your way through the streets of a zombie infested city to save the survivors of a disastrous chemical accident that changed most of the city's population into mindless brain hungry monsters. Time is your enemy and your car is your weapon as you race through the streets smashing everything on your way including fences, phone booths, street lamps and hordes of zombies. When the gruesomely mutated zombies become too much to handle, buy a new car or get more guns and upgrades installed. You can earn more money for finishing side quests, making kill combos and searching for hidden prizes. Game play is unrestricted and the player can freely roam through the dark streets, alleys and backyards searching for the best shortcuts or hidden power ups.

Key Features:

- 17 story missions with sub quests and bonus objectives,
- Huge, free roaming city, infested by thousands of brain hungry zombies,
- 6 different cars including an unlockable super car,
- 9 different upgrades for each car, which can transform even an innocent Taxi into a Chariot of Death

I'm not burned out on zombies yet (although I'm not seeing Zombieland, not because I'm burned out, only because it looks stupid), so I'll give it a try.

Seems like a good amount of content for a downloadable title. Plus, you know, zombies.
