Assassin's Creed...In The End (Taken from my weplaythis.com blog 2/19/08
Now that I'm done...
Assas

Assassin's Creed has come to an end for me unless I decide to search out more flags and templars on my never-ending quest for achievement glory. In the end, Assassin's Creed was a worthwhile experience. While it has in many ways reversed my initial opinion of the game some of my issues stayed with me until the end. First off, the controls become very cool because it has that God Of War 2 idea where you lose all of your abilities and slowly gain them back and it's because of this that the second half of the game really picks up. The fights become more intricate and smoothly fought. The quick pick me up can only do so much however since the repetitiveness of the story progress is kinda like having the runs because you know in another 10 or 20 minutes you're going to go through the same routine - and yes I just laughed at my own comment.
Over and over again you have to save citizens, pick pocket, eaves drop, interrogate, etc. etc. etc. I mean I am all for having more to a game than just sticking a knife in people and calling it a day but this really should have been more thought out. Plus during most of this my only wish became to seek out and murder every drunk, handicap, or beggar. I've got no patience for crap like that.
The real saving grace to this game was it's amazing story line. I find only a handful of games per year that really pull you along with a great story line. I basically couldn't stop playing until I found out what happened next which meant 2 days of dedicated playing time in between school and work and I had made it through. Awesome, awesome stuff here and the ending was a super cliffhanger. I just hope that in most likely fixing some of the shitty issues with the game the story doesn't do a 180 and end up sucking instead.
Basically give the game a shot if you haven't and here's hoping for an improved sequel.
