Microsoft's Robbie Bach Explains Why Blu-ray Won't Come to 360

Ever since the HD dvd vs Blu-ray format war has ended there have been rumors floating around about the 360 adopting the technology. Those rumors can (again) be put to rest after recent comments made by Microsoft’s Robbie Bach. Bach claims that consumers aren’t asking for Blu-ray. He continues by breaking down the situation:
“The scenario is, OK, let me get this straight: I'm going to add something to the product that's going to raise the cost, which means the price goes up, consumers aren't asking for it, and by the way, my game developers can't use it.
Oh, and by the way, I have an even better way for you to get high-definition content straight to your TV, between the combination of what we're doing with Netflix, what we're doing with (video on demand), we have a great Xbox Live solution. In a way it's a little bit of a technology looking for an answer. We just have no plans in that space."
Makes sense to me, but I wonder if the next Microsoft system will be developed around Blu-ray technology. We all know that the next Microsoft system is already being worked on, so why wouldn’t they use the latest, and most efficient, technology? Let's see you dismiss that Mr. Dismisser!

So, basically he's saying that if they add Blu-ray they would only be able to charge us once. The way it is now if you want to watch in Hi Def they can charge you each time you want to watch using their video on demand. This guy needs to stop acting like Microsoft cares about their consumers and just admit they love bleeding us dry over a long period of time.
I think it's a better solution as I wouldn't want to have to pay to upgrade my 360 in the scenario Bach provides. Especially seeing as I don't really give a flip about Blu-ray definition. I think the alternative they provide in the VOD service works fine, but that's just me.
With all their upgrades and additional hardware doesn't the system cost as much, at least, as the PlayStation 3?
