Did you enjoy Weezer – The 8-bit album?  Well then you probably would’ve loved DA CHIP, a chiptune tribute to Daft Punk.  The keyword there is would’ve because, well, it’s not available anymore. 

A couple weeks back French group Je Deviens DJ en 3 Jours put out said tribute compilation featuring The Listrix, Stage7, and Fluxxing amongst a number of other artists covering Daft Punk favorites such as One More Time, Aerodynamic, Around the World, Digital Love and more.  Entitled DA CHIP the album was available for download completely free on Je Deviens DJ en 3’s website, but has since been taken down.  The bonus tracks lingered on the site for a few days but they’re missing now as well.

So what happened?  Well it’s hard to say, as there’s really nothing to report other than the album’s disappearance.  My guess is that legal stepped in and sent a cease and desist letter.

It’s a real shame, but not all is lost.  The album can be heard in its entirety on Youtube.  Now how do you get it on your iPod?  Well you’ll have to figure out that one on your own.
