We have a language with our mice. We point, we click, and things happen. For those of us lucky enough to run DOS in the 90s, we can remember a slew of LucasArts point and click adventures that, in their time, had graphics and sound beating that of any console around.

Not only were these games immersing, with hilarious characters, dialogue and situational humor, but they were genuinely easy for people to pick up and play. Easy to play because you would use only your mouse, and your brain.

With the ever-growing success of home consoles, there would be no way to effectively translate mouse movement across the platforms without making movement tedious. Eventually quality writers would opt to start producing for consoles, and the language of the point-and-click adventure would be lost.

10 Years later, popular point and click game, Sam and Max gets a sequel. The game is a hit, and turns even more people on to the quirky transactions that the genre allows, with even more adverse puzzles. Now Sam and Max 2: Season 2 is being released, as well as a CSI point and click game.

We're also beginning to see something new altogether...

So far the Wii has been thoroughly applauded for its motion sensor technology, and now we're beginning to see how the Wii will make an excellent medium for point and click adventures. Seeing the success that is "Zack and Wiki," it is my prediction that the Wii will re-introduce this genre into the mainstream. I also believe that this will be a hit with people who bought the Wii because of Wii Sports being easy to play. I'd go so far to say as Nintendo is Wii-ning people into becoming gamers.
