2008 Driving Game of the Year
Gamervision's 2008 "Best Ever" Awards
by Gamervision
Driving games are always a blast, and 2008 was a banner year for next-generation virtual drivers. The year started strong with Burnout Paradise earning the pole and setting the pace for much of the year. PlayStation 3 owners benefited from a wealth of quality exclusive driving titles. From Wipeout HD’s insanely fast futuristic courses, to Motorstorm: Pacific Rift’s beautiful island tracks, racing fans were treated to some excellent entries in automotive action. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue also hit the Sony console this year, and if it were just a bit more of a complete game, may have given our eventual winner a run for its money. Both Pure and GRID were more than respectable rivals for our eventual champion, but neither title had what it took to finish the race. The debut of Mario Kart on the Wii made it an interesting race, but just didn’t have enough juice to cross the finish line first.
When the checkered flag finally dropped, there was only one game left on the track. After a heart-pounding final few laps, our 2008 Best Ever Driving Game was finally decided.

Had to be.
Anyone who has played GT5:Prologue knows full well what will win this award when the full version finally drops.
i agree completely sean, though until then Midnight Club LA is a very good racing game :)
I'll be over here, crying and playing Pure/Burnout.
Gran Turismo? You mean that "super-realistic" driving game? The one where you can slam into a wall at 175 mph and take no damage? The one where you can scrape against the guardrail for the whole race and still win? Oh, I love that game.
I've played none of these, but I really want to check out GRID when I get the chance.
Midnight Club gets my vote along with Burnout Paradise.
