2008 Music Game of the Year
Gamervision's 2008 "Best Ever" Awards
by Gamervision
What began in arcades with Beatmania and Dance Dance Revolution has now made its way so mainstream that it’s impossible to turn on the television without seeing Al Roker playing Guitar Hero or Conan O’Brien jamming to Rock Band. This year saw several new iterations of previous franchises, like Rock Band 2 perfecting what was done in 2007 and Guitar Hero adding drums, a microphone, and being released for both cell phones and the Nintendo DS. Sadly, for many of these games, it was more of the same, and even Guitar Hero’s additions felt more like expansions than inventive titles.
But there was one game that broke the flow, and it was from an entirely unexpected source.

I was hoping this game would win.
for a split second i was like, i think they might pick wii music.
never played this one
I want a minimalist-ubercoolische-Magda-make-the-tea Wip3out skin to this.
the current art direction is trying too f'n hard.
So fun, one of my top of the year. Best indie game in a while.
interesting... won't lie i was at least hoping for a mention of Tap Tap Revenge... I know it is a crappy iphone game... but I find it to be quite addictive and enjoyable. I also strongly agree that Rock Band 2 was perfecting what it already rocks at therefore not deserving of Best Ever
I've wanted this game for some time, but i never get around to downloading steam...
I downloaded this, but my computer kind of sucks really, really hard. Damn.
OMG! Most addictive game ever! I enjoy it because I can still listen to the music I want and play a very amusing game at the same time. That is one issue I have with the RB and GH games... some of the music is just crap.
This game was fun and I enjoyed it, but I would have chosen Rock Band 2.
Rock Band 2 is fantastic, I'm not gonna lie. But Audiosurf definitely gets credit for being so original and well-developed.
