2008 Shooter of the Year
Gamervision's 2008 "Best Ever" Awards
by Gamervision
Picking the 2008 Best Shooter Ever was incredibly difficult. There were quite a few titles aiming for the number one spot, and each one is deserving of recognition. Battlefield: Bad Company and Crysis Warhead showed that people would blow up anything just to see what it looked like exploding. Multiplatform games like Call of Duty: World at War and Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway confirmed once again that no matter how much gamers complain about WWII games, they’ll still buy them... as long as they’re good. Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2 gave their respective console owners an exclusive to brag about, while Far Cry 2 treated players on every system to a new kind of first-person shooter experience. How well developed and fun to play Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 took us all by surprise, but it still missed the mark when vying for Best Ever.
After all the dust settled and the bodies were counted, only one game was still standing. With a shot heard ‘round the world, our 2008 Best Shooter Ever did everything it could to make sure it was number one with a bullet.

I'm soooooo glad you guys weren't like all the sheep and picking Gears 2. I CAN'T wait to play this game! Great pick.
Gears 2 was still awesome, but yeah, L4D ftw.
This is a tough choice to make, especially with 2008's line up of great shooters. Having played all the games listed that were nominated and enjoyed them all, I would agree and give it to left 4 dead. It's original, the multiplayer is fun, and online is a blast.
I see it. I definitely see it.
