Last week Gamervision shook our mystical magic 8-Ball and predicted what we thought would happen at this year’s
E3. On our first shake we opined on
Sony’s showing and the blue, delicious ink splashed back to let the capsule inside to float to the surface and reveal “Outlook Looks Bleak.”
Today we continue to pull our Sylvia Browne routine, break out the ouija board and hope the spirits guide us to Microsoft’s E3 truths. And since Bill Gates has made many deals with nefarious demons in the past, we think those same demons should be more than willing to guide our sweaty fingers from letter to letter. Let us light a stick of patchouli incense and hear the low drumming Enya piping out of the cassette player on the table as we take a look into the future.
Coop:
Microsoft has a large amount of hype following them this year. The 360 is doing well – not Wii well, but well – and they just charmed the gamer heart by extending the warranties of their poor, broken piece of crap by three years. What secrets will we see? I have no doubt there will be a heavy amount of laughing and pointing in the direction of Sony this year with the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 4 coming to the 360. That is my guess for the Peter Moore's new tattoo as well, a nice MGS4 logo on his arm. Halo 3 announcements that are not really surprises will be presented as such. Loads of online features and online co-op will be announced for their beloved shooter, but I have no idea what else might be announced.
Sean:
You probably won't hear a whole lot from the MS tent about the $1 billion repair debacle. That being said, I, like Coop, expect to hear a lot of details about Halo 3 (although that can hardly be a huge shocker...) There's sure to be a fair amount of chest-thumping going on about the 360 Elite, and all the cool things you can do with it. As for actual predictions, I expect to see some mouth-watering footage from the soon-to-come Splinter Cell: Convictions, and Mercenaries 2. But for me, the biggest news, and most exciting game coming from Microsoft (maybe from any developer) in the next couple of months is BioShock. Every single still and video I've seen of this title look simply amazing, so look for some more of that.
Joe:
Halo 3 will most likely steal the show. Some more teasers from Bioshock, Fracture and Splinter Cell: Conviction. Fans can hold onto the hope that they might make some sense of the "leaked" Gears of War footage. I don't think it's a coincidence that it was leaked so close to E3. Will it be downloadable content or a full sequel? We haven't heard that much from Mercenaries 2 recently, so I think that will be a big topic as well. Metal Gear Solid 4 will also be getting an official announcement of it's new home on the 360. Best of all will be the surprises.
