Half Life 2 Modification Spotlight: No More Room in Hell
A Zombie Modification That Has Huge Potential
by Gamervision
Every so often we think it the gaming media’s job to point out the efforts of amateur developers in their attempts at creating games with the best tools available to them: modification of other engines.
Today we shine a flashlight towards one of the first modifications to begin development for Half Life 2: No More Room in Hell. It has been in development for several years at this point and is yet to be released. The reasons were not fully known until it was revealed exactly how high these guys are reaching. Take a look at the video below:
The map is called City of Dawn and the video is over nine minutes long. This is most likely the largest map ever created for the source engine. The player moves around it without any load times for the entirety of the length.
From their website: “This is the first survival/horror FPS of its kind. A realistic feel combined with a horrifying experience will be brought to the genre which has been undeniably conquered by the Resident Evil series for so long. This mod will require an unprecedented amount of teamwork and an emphasis on cooperation among you and your teammates to survive. We are hoping to immerse you in a new approach to the Co-Op style with the help of Valve's Source technology.
The mod will pit you and your friends against an unending horde of zombies bent on your destruction and boasts advanced technological features such as: Fully dismemberable bodies with ragdoll physics, an injury based damage system, the ability to barricade windows and doors with map debris or wood boards, highly dynamic environments, and zombie behavior through a selective spawning system.” Quote source.
Check it out and let’s hear what you think! I know some of the GV staff are drooling in anticipation of it.
