Peter Moore to Leave Microsoft for EA
To be Replaced with Former EA President...the Old Switcheroo
by Gamervision
Microsoft’s gaming division has been led for years by a balding old man whose two claims to fame are that he is willing to tattoo any game logo on his skin, and that he won the love of gamers the world over by extending Xbox 360 warranties to a full three years. His name is Peter Moore.
Although we're fairly certain that not many gamers are big fans of executives, we know that this news may come as somewhat of a shock: Peter Moore has decided to resign from his position with Microsoft. The buzz is that at some point in August or September, he will take up the lead chair for EA Sports.
His stated reason is that he wishes to spend more time with his family, and that working for EA will allow that. We at Gamervision think it is more likely he is going to EA because if he works for a company that never, ever, ever surprises gamers he will never need to get another tattoo. Zing.
More confusing is who Microsoft has picked for his replacement. The job is going to former EA President Don Mattrick. Yes, this could just be a coincidence. But something about the companies literally switching presidents leads us to suspect a much closer relationship between the two companies.
Another question that begs to be asked: how long has this been in the works? Don Mattrick was hired in February 2007 as an external adviser to Microsoft’s gaming division. Why take a job like that unless a large promotion is in the works? Microsoft, you sly dog you.

First the story about insider trading at MS in advance of the warranty announcement. Then we learn that Mattrick has been planning for this for months... Leads me to believe what I've suspected for a long time: Microsoft engages in illegal business practices, and the government (which is supposed to regulate these things) could give a shit.
Call me naive, but how is this even remotely an illegal business practice?
Micro$oft delving into illegal business practices? No way, not M$!!! After all, they are famous for stealing fledgling companies' ideas, patenting them & then suing the pants off of said small companies. This just goes to show that the proposed "insider information" being circulated re: Micro$oft is no coincidence.
If Moore changes EA Sports so that PC Gamers stop getting crummy ports of the console version of games (& maybe even gets NCAA Football franchise back to the PC), then I'll be happy. Though, I doubt it. :(
I misspoke. Although insider trading is illegal, the practice of moving executives from one company to another, while unethical, shady, and bad business, are not illegal.
