Square Enix has decided to take a swing at the “massive battle” genre with The Last Remnant. The game looks to take cues from Dynasty Warriors and 99 Nights. Hopefully this game tries to break this genre out of the pattern that seems to have emerged of late; that is, these games have been slowly grinding their place into the “more repetitive than fun” classification. The addition of magic and summoning will hopefully do more for The Last Remnant than it did for 99 Nights, which was met by less than exceptional reviews and just as disappointing sales.
