Virtual Reality Within our Reach
But We Might Not Want It...
by Gamervision
Virginia tech has created a game that places you in a virtual world unlike any you have ever seen. Well, depending on your childhood...
This new virtual reality game places you in the middle of an argument between a couple, letting you decide to:
1. Appease them.
2. Egg them on.
3. Have childhood flashbacks that end with a scream and a plate of spaghetti slowly sliding down the wall.
“
but once the game "AR Facade" starts, you might wish there were space invaders. That's because it puts you in the middle of an excruciatingly uncomfortable argument between Trip and Grace, a bickering thirty-something married couple.
Do you play moderator and decide to help broker a truce? Do you instigate them by complimenting Grace on her decorating style or pretending to be impressed with your pal Trip's place? Or do you act as if everything's peachy while their arguing heats up?
Whatever path is taken, this participatory soap opera at a Georgia Tech research lab is at times funny, awkward and intriguing. And it's always intense and emotionally draining.
"AR Facade" is an "augmented reality" game, a genre that mixes a virtual world with physical reality. The technology is still emerging, though someday people may play such games with gear as simple as their cell phones.”
Come on, Nintendo! What’s the hold up? We want to mingle in the bickering of the townsfolk of the Mushroom Kingdom or stop a fight between Zelda and Link!
More on how this fails to influence the common gamer at 11. Even so, a cool idea that we at Gamervision would love to try out.

I hate mediating my own fights. Why the hell would I want to get involved in the problems of people that don't even exist?!
Facade has been around for some time, now they just popped it in Virtual Boy 2.0.
I wish Virtual Boy would make a come back, in a different form. Stereoscopic imagery really was impressive, but the console debuted way before its time. With current hardware, one could make some impressive looking games.
I still have my Virtual Boy, and love it...hard. I dream in RED...
If I can't clonk their virtual heads together and end the argument, I'm not interested.
