PS3 To PSP Blu-Ray Movie Transfers Official

Hotness.

by HeyKidNiceRobot

I am so glad I dropped my rent money on a PS3, PSP, HD TV and a whole slew of Blu-Ray movies. Especially now that Sony might actually win a format war!

Sony made an announcement today at CES that users will be able to rip their Blu-Ray movies onto their PSP and take them anywhere. It actually negates the whole purpose of purchasing an HD movie, but still, allowing users the ability to easily make their movie library portable is a step in the right direction. It appears to be as easy as plugging in your PSP to your PS3 via USB, and just start the upload. I'm also glad I spent food money on a 4GB memory card.

I am soo happy about this news but I'd be happier if I could also play/transfer/remote play my DVDs. But yeah great news. I wonder if the Blu-ray discs I have right now will be compatible.

    Sh!t. I just read:

"Unfortunately it will only be supported by Blu-Ray 2.0 discs and it will have to be turned on by the studios who press the discs."

So no, I guess this will only be a new disc thing. That takes the coolness out of the announcement. Why don't I just stop buying Blu-ray till that happens?! Grr..
