In the middle of the intense shoot-outs found in the Halo 3 Beta, I kept expecting to see some kind of hidden achievement, something special just for the testers. There was the talk about the "Cheney Mania!" Achievement for killing 10 people with a shotgun, but that was pulled before it even left for beta. Yet after countless rounds of wasting other testers, not one achievement could be found. Does this support the argument that Microsoft has found the key to console victory in achievement points? Could we even find interest in a game that won't reward us in 25 point increments that can be added up for bragging rights? There was a time when tossing a frag grenade at your friend's face and watching it explode was enough. I wonder how many points I would get for that now?
