Public Beta Coming "Sooner Then You Think"

by Joe

If you haven't heard already, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is going to be hosting a public multiplayer beta very soon. Now that you have been informed, get over to CharlieOscarDelta.com and sign up! MOVE IT SOLDIER! This is the extent of information provided to members: Charlie Oscar Delta is your Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Multiplayer (MP) BETA headquarters. Check it out! We've included all of the pertinent details for the sampling of MP action that you will experience in the COD4:MW Xbox 360 Public MP BETA. This is also where you will get an opportunity to join the COD4:MW MP BETA...and that opportunity will come sooner than you think. Don't worry, we'll give you plenty of warning. Look for an update here in BETA headquarters. We'll also throw an announcement into SITREP and add a countdown clock on our homepage. To be eligible for a token-you must be 18 years of age or older, punctual and capable of answering three trivia questions correctly. Yes, punctual. To be fair, we're doling out the tokens on a first come first serve basis. We're still finalizing plans for where the Beta will be available. Initially, in order to get underway we'll be rolling-out in the United States. As soon as we're able to confirm which other countries are good to go we'll be back to update everybody. They also treat you to a few exclusive screen shots, nothing too exciting, just the main menu. It does give a few hints as to what multiplayer options might be. There are list of "challenges" that directly relate to weapon classes: Assault, SMG, LMG, Shotgun, and Sniper. These are then broken down into small achievements. No idea whether these will unlock Xbox Achievements, or if they will be associated only with the COD4 community. Right next to your user name, it lists your Monthly Points and Ranking. Something Infinity Ward is doing to push multiplayer to a new level, is adding "multiplayer perks". When you customize you character, you will be give three "perks" that help define what combat style you want. Here are the six know perks: Last Stand: Will give you one last ditch effort to take someone out before you bleed to death. Once you fall to the ground, you will pull out your side arm and be given a short amount of time to shoot from the ground. Deep Impact: Allows the player to shoot through more objects that could otherwise be used as cover. Double Tap: Increases the rate of fire from the players weapon. Sleight Of Hand: Allows for faster reloads. Simple. C4: Gives the player the ability to place C4 all around the map. Huge explosions ensue. Dead Silence: Limits the amount of noise you make so you can easily sneak up on other players and take them out. These perks are really going to make COD4 one of the intense multiplayer experiences out there.

its funny "double tap" is actually a military technique that is used when shooting in close quarters. Its two quick shots rite after another (tap tap) hence the name.

Activision's full of crap! They put the beta for the xbox 360 community only? Nice going forgetting about the pc gamers who MADE the CoD franchise what it is today. After all, wasn't CoD initially launched on the pc only (& is what put them on the map)? Yea, thought so b1tches!
