The Worst Video Game Trends In 2007

Every industry tends to become complacent and just fall back into "what works". We are knee deep into the summer of three-peats. So why should the video game industry be any different?
Halo 3. Guitar Hero 2. Ghost Recon 2. Splinter Cell: Double Agent. God Of War 2. More Marios and Zeldas. Effects that made one game unique being recycled over and over again. It is such a rare occurrence that we get a new treat like Gears of War. There are some really interesting titles on the horizon, Bioshock, Army of Two, Assassins Creed, and Kane and Lynch to name a few. I'm not ignoring the Wii, it's just that most of their big titles are sequels or "Wii versions".
GamePro.com has an interesting article on The 11 Worst Gaming Trends in 2007. Let's hope 2008 brings us some fresh games. especially for the Wii. We're waiting!

We can all hope that 2008 brings some fresh trends, or at least some fresh games. But my gut tells me this isn't likely. All one needs to do is look at the movies and games that are out and successful now. GRAW 2, Madden, Halo 3, Spiderman 3. All of these make huge amounts of money and all of them are continuations of other stories. This leads me to believe that we'll see more of the same for some time to come.
with the wii being such an innovative console, i really have high hopes for games that simulate the every days chores i avoid doing.
