Amazon's Gold Box Deals 360-Centric Today

I've Got It!

by Jonathan H. Cooper

Amazon is having another day full of gaming deals today. Their actual Gold Box deal is for Transformers: War for Cybertron on Xbox 360 and PS3, marked down from the normal price of $60 to $42.98. Beyond that, the lightning deals, too, are completely filled with gaming goodness and, as expected, mysterious hints. It has already started, with Singularity being cut by 33%.

Below are the clues, with our guesses in parenthesis to the right.

  • 6 AM PDT - This first-person shooter combines thrilling combat and puzzle-solving gameplay. (Singularity, obviously)
  • 9 AM PDT - Go West, young man. (Red Dead: Redemption)
  • 11 AM PDT - Journey to a land of legendary combat. (Prince of Persia)
  • 12 PM PDT - Street Fighter IV button mashing (Either Street Fighter or an Arcade Stick)
  • 3 PM PDT - The first modern day spy role-playing game. (Alpha Protocol)
  • 4 PM PDT - Hone your stealth skills. (Splinter Cell: Conviction)
  • 6 PM PDT - Life 23 years from now. (Metro 2033)
  • 9 PM PDT - Explore the deadly, shadowed world of an Assassin. (Assassin's Creed 2)

There are some really, really big games here. Their sales are usually good, too, so anyone looking to pick up some of the biggest games of the past six months should pay close attention. There's a literal smorgasbord of hits here, and there's no better way to save money than to spend it on a bunch of games you didn't care enough to pick up at launch.

Plan on buying anything? Depending on the sale, it might be time to pick up Alpha Protocol, reguardless of quality. I mean, there's always a chance that they're going to cut the price to, like, $20, right? Or maybe cheaper? Right? Right?
