Boba Fett to Hunt Starkiller in Force Unleashed II, Which Makes Sense
Then a Sarlacc Pit Will Eat Him!
To many, Boba Fett is one of the most interesting characters in the Star Wars universe. Sure, it's mostly because of his awesome outfit, but that doesn't detract from the fandom surrounding the intergalactic bounty hunter. Despite this, he was entirely absent in Lucasarts' original Force Unleashed, something that the developers are looking to fix in this sequel. According to the trailer above, which was, for some reason, revealed by USA Today, Fett is not only going to be featured in The Force Unleashed II, but he's going to play a major part in the game, hunting down Starkiller for Darth Vader. It appears that those two have some history that might be explored, too.
"We didn't want to just throw Boba Fett or other characters in the game just for the sake of making a fan appearance," says LucasArts' Haden Blackman, who wrote the story for both games. "But it really made sense for (Vader) to hire Boba Fett."
No arguments here. It really does make sense, in the continuity of Star Wars, for the Bounty Hunters hired by the Empire in The Empire Strikes Back to be ones they've worked with in the past. While Darth Vader is making no attempts are trying to maintain positive PR, it would still seem uncharacteristic to hire any old mercenary for an important mission. They thrive on secrecy, and letting anyone with a blaster and a jet pack enter the Death Star for information on top-secret missions just seems... silly. Hopefully we'll also find out more about Boba's back story, since there's no way I'm going to wade through dozens of Expanded Universe nonsense to find out what caused the little scared boy that watched his dad's head get cut off to become one of the most bad-ass combatants in the galaxy.
Who, you know, eventually got eaten by a giant hole in the sand. After being shot by a blind man. Yeah, Boba is awesome.
