Epic Games has released the first trailer for their upcoming FPS, Bulletstorm. In motion, it looks exactly like they said it would look: like Burnout if it were a shooter. As a fan of guns, blowing things up, blood, gore, and the Burnout franchise, I give two hearty thumbs ups. The graphics looks fantastic, too, which is another plus. It looks like, after about four years, the Unreal Engine is taking over in the way we always thought it would. Let's just hope the pop-in isn't embarrassingly bad this time around. Seriously, go back and play early Unreal games. It was bad.

While I definitely get their reference to Burnout (in that it's fast and over-the-top), it also looks a lot like The Club, the mediocre third-person shooter every game developer is copying without admitting it. There really weren't many shooters that awarded points for interesting kills until The Club, and it looks like Bulletstorm is taking that idea and amplifying it by a few hundred thousand degrees.

We're going to guess (and pray and pray and pray) that the game will be on display at this year's E3, so stay tuned for that and a whole lot more in the coming months.
