Dragon Age 2 Revealed, First Details Released
New Hero, New Story

Next month's Game Informer will come with some big news, according to the magazine's website. BioWare is ready to unveil a full sequel to Dragon Age: Origins, entitled Dragon Age 2, which is said to include a new hero, a different part of the world, and a ton of "surprising" improvements. What "surprising" changes are we in store for? Here's a taste from the official website:
- Embark upon an all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade and shapes itself around every decision you make.
- Determine your rise to power from a destitute refugee to the revered champion of the land.
- Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior.
- Go deeper into the world of Dragon Age with an entirely new cinematic experience that grabs hold of you from the beginning and never lets go.
- Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style.
Everything about this sounds fantastic, but some of it is a little vague. We're going to guess that the new combat is going to be more action-based, especially considering the success of Mass Effect 2's combat. Show me a full blown action/RPG with the story and world of Dragon Age, and I'll show you a game that's going to sell a whole lot of copies. Seriously.
The first game was phenomenal, but had some issues that we'd really like to see cleaned up by BioWare. I'm sure whatever they do will be for the better, however, and we're all extremely excited to see what the developer has planned for Gamervision's pick "Best New IP" and "Best RPG" for 2009. Game Informer is said to have a ten page reveal for the game in their next issue, so our questions will be answered sooner than later.
In the meantime, feel free to speculate. Go ahead, we won't stop you.
