New Blur Trailer Released, Beta Updated

A New Way to Race

by Jonathan H. Cooper

Today, Activision released a new trailer for the upcoming racer, Blur. While it doesn't show anything incredibly new, it does go a bit more into the game's multiplayer, which is obviously a major focus. With up to twenty players racing together at once, it looks to be one of the largest games in the genre, and that's saying a lot. Add in weapons, customization, and a robust leveling system, and Xbox 360 fans have something akin to ModNation Racers to look forward to later this month. It'll be out on the PlayStation 3, too, but we're not too sure it'll be able to dethrone United Front's recently released offering. Not yet, at least.

Some upgrades to the beta, though, might be enough to change our mind.

Besides showing off some new features, they've also released an update for the beta, which is currently running on Xbox Live. The servers might only have a few days left, but that doesn't mean there isn't any reason to jump online to get a taste. On the contrary, there's no time like the present, as a number of enhancements have been made available. Now, they've added: the ability to play A-Class cars in standard playlists, an expanded Supercar Racing Playlist that include races in Tokyo and Amboy, power-ups that shuffle so each race has different Power-Up placement, and double the amount of fans earned for each race, allowing players to quickly reach Rank-15 and experience the "full Beta demo experience."
