Warning: 60% of Guitar Hero 4 kits broken
dosen't this happen EVERY time they make a new one?
by Jozzy V1
Yeah so I got GH4 and my drum don't work right. After checking meassage boards, I'm here to warn you that about 60% of people are saying that their drums and/or guitar don't work right. People have already been through three drum kits. I'm going to exchange mine now.
just a heads up

I'm trying to find out more about this right now, including how widespread the problem is and what Activision or any retailers are planning to do about it.
Okay, so far Activision/Red Octane's response is to exchange it for a new one under the warranty, which means filling out a warranty form online, sending out the parts, waiting for a new one... you know, exactly what you want to do the day the game launched. You can find out more on their customer support page.
They also advise that you make sure your instruments have batteries and are plugged in. Genius. I love how they assume that most of their fanbase aren't smart enough to check that before turning to the internets for help.
It also seems to be affecting all of the console versions of the game, so no one is safe from defective instruments. No word on exactly how widespread the problem is, but obviously there are already an overwhelming number of gamers with defective drum kits AND guitars. We'll keep you posted when we know more.
60%?!
360s constantly RROD, Fable II needs a patch to get the full content of the game and now 60 freakin' percent of GH:WT's packages have faulty units? Three drum kits?
Are game developpers' hubris grown to a point where they don't care about what they ship out, as long as they have a Plan B?
Man you would think this kinda problem is passed through rigorous testing before they ship this stuff out. May I site SOCOM: Confrontation (last week) and now Guitar Hero World Tour (this week). How embarrassing.
I expect big problems from consoles when they're released but software titles should at least have their stuff together.
If I go to pick up Fallout 3 on Tuesday and my collector's edition bobble head is faulty then God help everyone!!! haha
Homer: "I like those odds!"
issues like this one is here is the biggest thing keeping me from spending my money like mad aquiring all these awsome new consoles and gaming equipment. I don't care to be the consumer who gets the chance of getting a defective product....especially since its an issue thats been plauging the game industry for a few years now with no end in sight. Better shape up, Game-industry, I'm a customer that wont take the ill bait.
i bet GH4 is so much fun with the controller and not the instrument!!
lol.
That's 60% of the people online. Most people whose games aren't broken didn't bother going to their message board, I'd figure.
Won't lie when my drum kit made me want to throw it through my TV I was pretty turned off my GH anyway, but after playing with my rock band instruments... I still feel luke warm about it overall. There are at least a dozen songs on both games, and I just feel that the rock band accessibility is much easier to manage, especially for rock band parties. i think rock band is the way to go for the full experience. GH has a few shining moments, but I think it should stick to what it knows. Guitar games.
this saddens me. because i thought the drum kit was gonna be cool. guess i just stick to rockband 2
btw... my second drum kit red button is total crap... the GH answer: my very own sensitivity calibrator... not a new kit... this thing better work...
That's why I'm so happy with my Xplorer.
Xplorer = Best Guitar Controller... Ever
