FALLOUT 3
Im not seeing enough stuff on Fallout 3 so I figured I'll start some....
by Jpage0024
I noticed while constantly checking out Gamervision.com over the last 3 weeks that there really hasn't been that much talk about one of the most anticipated games of 2008.
On October 28th, 2008 Bethesda Softworks will be releasing the third installment of the Fallout franchise, FALLOUT 3. The game takes place about 30 years after the events of Fallout 2 as you begin your journey locked in vault 101 located deep underground.
If you don't know Fallout and you want a basic idea of the story here it is in one sentence: The United States is afraid of nuclear fallout from Atomic bombs during the Cold War so a company called Vault-Tec sells real-estate underground in large vaults.
As far as the specific story of Fallout 1 and 2, well.... go play it. Haha.
The new installation is being built by the masterminds behind OBLIVION. Bethesda Softworks has acquired the franchise and has taken it into a first-person shooter RPG realm. I am going to include the first 5 game-play videos below. This will give you a better idea of how the game will feel and play, compared to anything I could say in words.
The newest idea brought into this RPG is the idea that it should appeal to first-person shooter fans, in case you dont want to bother with the V.A.T.S. system. What is the VATS system? Well......

It allows you to basically pause your fire-fights with enemies to specifically target areas of their bodies to inflict maximum damage. If you want to inject 3 rounds of shotgun ammo into a mutant zombie's head it will allow you that luxury along with telling you the potential percentage of your success!
Another important aspect of Fallout 3 is the fact that you're going to be able to select certain "perks" from the beginning that allow you to be better prepared for certain situations! Some may help you in sneaking or lock-picking, which is not too foreign from the realm of RPGs. However perks such as "Bloody Mess" just add to the violence and fun of the game (of which there is a high level).

All in all you're looking at one of the greatest games of 2008, and I hope to see more on it on Gamervision in the next weeks.
ENJOY!

while i do think it looks great, its just not my type of game. I found Oblivion to be boring and this does not look to really change my mind. I will give the game a try if a friend owns it, but will not be droppin bones.
yeah if its not your type of game then there probably no way of getting into it haha.
My friend is a Fable nut and I am that Oblivion type RPG guy. Plus I love the first 2 so much that its so nice to see a new updated version of the story.
The first 2 fallout's were a different kind of gameplay werent they? I think I remember playing the first one but I cannot remember.
Whoa, Fallout overload! I think this game looks awesome, I can't wait to see more of it.
yeah they were more turned based game-play, and they relied on the VATS targeting. They were also overhead view RPGs like Commandos.
Ive been waiting for gamervision to start talking about it haha. All Ive been reading is all about Little Big Planet, and for me (who doesnt have a PS3), its not anything i can get pumped about.
i liked the older fallouts i played i remember that much
I preordered it.
Jpage - We did have a bunch of stuff about Fallout going up a month or two ago...we've kind of backed off because, well, there hasn't been a lot of news on the game. But trust me, almost every single person at GV is incredibly pumped for this game.
There will be plenty of stuff to read once the game is out...worry not :D
Ahhh... I remember Commandos. That was a simpler time in gaming. Much simpler.
Commandos was such a GD difficult series.
Commandos was super hard haha.
Raccoonacorn- Thank god. Im so pumped for this game that its weird that I don't see too much on it. I actually turned on X-play the other day randomly and they were going through a list of games coming out this month. Not one mention of FALLOUT 3. I guess that the reason I stopped watching them haha.
I guess when you follow a game's development so closely its unusual that you dont see it plastered everywhere the month before its release. Its going to be incredible! I cant wait. I hope everyone enjoyed the videos, even if you've all seen em already.
i can't wait i've played every installment of the series. i still hgave the original jewel cases and everything. i think bethesda is going to do a great job for the franchise.
to lane: nice! I had the hardest time playing 2 because it was so damn hard.
so basically a sci-fi version of oblivion? TUBULAR!
