Which gamer friends are really worth keeping

this does not mean I will bash pro gamers, I have tons of respect for them.

There seems to be a little bit of a nit pick towards a friend of mine. He seems to have had a long history of playing video games similar to my history (played N64 and other consoles). Me and him talked about games such as Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 as well as other N64 games. It seemed though right when Halo 3 came out, he was somewhat interested. Then again who wasn't interested in Halo 3 when it came out.

As time went by and Halo 3 was sort of becoming an old thing,(for me anyways), my friend seemed to be really consumed with the game. He would spend countless hours trying to perfect his every move. When it came time to play at another friend's house, we all played just for fun. But he played as if we were just mere opponents and not friends. He took things too seriously and from there took the fun away from playing Halo 3.

A year goes by and he is now in a crowd full of Halo 3 players. But these players were all MLG status. From here all he talked about was Halo 3 and how "awesome" he took out opponents online. It got to the point of everyone around him getting sick of it. Now he has this idea of going into MLG and winning it all. All I think is he was lost in the world of Gramers. Not to say that the game is particularly for Gramers but it has become the same as football or baseball, except its all virtual.

What I'm trying to get through with this message is that because of an obsession with one game, diversity with other great games is eliminated. It sort of saddens me as a gamer to see someone who used to be open to diversity and then become consumed with only one game. People seriously need to diversify with games and not just stick with one game, unless you are low on cash and that's all you have, then that is understandable.

didn't the MLG fold like a few months ago? sometimes i wish everyone would get stuck on halo 3 so i could enjoy douchbagless gaming.

I get annoyed a bit by that too. Then again, I spent YEARS in Counter-Strike, so I have no room to talk. But yeah, I hate when I get invites to games I haven't played in months (or don't own) while trying to play a new title.

Man I just went to MLG's site (I've never been) and watched some of their video content.
If they're all like the presenters, a bunch of wanna be thugs or jock douchebags, I wouldn't want any part of that.
